Overview

Training. Professional trainings by J. Mark Weiss are engaging and, more importantly, impactful. Mark conducts trainings on Collaborative Law, negotiation and facilitation, and mediation, both as a founder of the Seattle Collaborative Law Training Group and independently. Being a student of adult education methods, Mark provides an attention to detail to the art of training and adult education to enhance learning. Mark is available to conduct professionally designed and presented trainings to your group or firm -- either individually or as part of a team of trainers. Consultation Services. Sometimes, all you need to get a case back on track is an outside perspective from an experienced professional someone who has been there and who can help you reorient and look at things through a different set of eyes. J. Mark Weiss is available for consultation for individual professionals or Collaborative teams to assist in those situations. Whether you need some extra guidance to help you with your first Collaborative Law cases, or you are an experienced Collaborative practitioner who faces a vexing challenge, consultation services can be helpful are available on an as-needed hourly basis. Mark has successfully helped with Collaborative teams who were stuck and who have faced daunting issues. Mark has helped individual Collaborative Law professionals work with their clients and with their professional counterparts. Mark can bring a training or presentation to your group, or community, sponsored by you. Mark's trainings are carefully tailored to enhance the learning process of your group. No two trainings will be exactly alike, because no two groups are alike. In addition to the professional trainings listed below, additional professional training and presentations are available depending on the needs of your group. Contact Mark to discuss your training needs and to explore brining a training or presentation to your community. Some examples of trainings and presentations that are available are below:

Basic Collaborative Law Training. This two-day training is available in several formats, either attorney-only or with an interdisciplinary team.

Basic Interdisciplinary Team Training. This three-day training is taught with an interdisciplinary team of professionals.

Beyond the Basics Training. This training emphasizes the "how to" of a Collaborative Divorce case, to clarify and enhance areas that may need a little more attention after basic training, and to enhance the practice skills of all professionals. This training may be highly customized for the needs of your group. 

Intermediate-Level Collaborative Law Training. This one- or two-day training is focused on introducing attorneys and other collaborative professionals to some of the dynamics that impact Collaborative practice, and to techniques and tool to address those dynamics. Topics include team work, psychology and neuroscience of conflict, dispute resolution techniques, and impasse techniques.

Intermediate-Level Interdisciplinary Team Training. This one- or two- day training is taught with an interdisciplinary team of professionals.

Advanced Trainings. Mark offers advanced trainings in interest-based negotiation and facilitation, working in teams, leadership, the collaborative law process, mediation, and related topics. A perpetual student himself, Mark frequently develops new trainings to explore new areas. Please call to discuss the needs of your group.

Topical Trainings, Workshops, and Presentations. Mark provides in-depth trainings, workshops, and presentations on a number of topics. Recent presentations covering individual topics include presentations on ethics, advocacy and the role of the law in Collaborative Law cases, on using high-end goals and mission statements in Collaborative cases, on interest-based negotiations, and on facial expressions and nonverbal communication.
